The second of two public hearings to discuss the renewal of the Economic Improvement District fees will be held Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. at the Molalla Adult Center, 315 Kennel St. The first hearing was held Aug. 11. The EID is a fee that can be imposed on commercial and industrial property owners who own property within the Molalla city limits to fund Team for Economic Action in Molalla's economic development efforts, which include downtown revitalization, façade improvements, commercial development, business recruitment and retention efforts and commercial and industrial marketing.

Billboards have been popping up along local highways in recent months and they have not gone unnoticed by the Oregon Department of Transportation.The signs have been erected by Jai Nicholson of Center Stage Advertising as a way for local businesses to promote their goods and services, but according to ODOT, the signs are illegal.

Main Street Molalla's Second Friday monthly event will be held Aug. 13 and this time it has a theme: Hot August Nights. From 5 to 9 p.m. visitors to the downtown area will be able to browse classic and custom cars and a sidewalk sale at Beauty Works and Blockbuster, watch dance performances by KAPA, view a trunk show at Spurs, sample beer and wine at Pepco Designs, listen to music and view dragster cars at Grooming at Tiffani's, participate in a Zumba exercise class at Cutting Edge Fitness, and browse vendors, listen to music and watch demonstrations by Adonai's Tae Kwon Do at city hall.

Lynn Blatter was the second winner of the three-month 3/50 Project sponsored by Main Street Molalla and the Molalla Area Chamber of Commerce. The two organizations kicked off the project, a campaign designed to encourage community members to spend money locally, at the beginning of May.
