Drivers planning to use Highway 213 between Molalla and Oregon City this Friday, Feb. 5 should plan extra time or take an alternate route if their trip is scheduled between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Traffic delays are expected near Carus and likely in Mulino as well, with waits of up to 20 minutes each.

Oregon Department of Transportation announced Thursday that they will be conducting emergency tree removal on the east side of Highway 213 near milepost 6.8 in the Carus area Friday. Workers will remove five trees near the roadway that are decaying and pose a threat of falling into the roadway, said Elizabeth Craig, community affairs coordinator for ODOT Region One.

The tree removal project will require single lane closures with flaggers controlling traffic, Craig said. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, drivers can expect delays of no more than 20 minutes.

Tree removal is also planned for next week, but a schedule is not yet available.

ODOT’s contractors have also begun work on their Mulino Highway 213 project and Craig said single lane closures are also possible in the Mulino area on Friday as contractors work to construct a temporary fence.
