One year isn’t a particularly long time, but in the year or so I’ve been covering sports from Molalla to Colton, I feel like I’ve experienced plenty. I’ve covered winless teams and state champions; I’ve seen parents yell at coaches and parents recognize coaches for putting in more effort than what their paycheck shows; I’ve seen athletes laugh and athletes cry; I saw blowouts and buzzer-beaters; I covered track on the most beautiful of days and a football game in a monsoon; I’ve seen kids raise money through athletics for wells in Africa; I covered games in the middle of nowhere and a track meet on the Mecca of track and field, Hayward Field; I even got caught in a Gatorade bath in the final game I covered this season, which seemed almost fitting.
