As the seconds wound down on another win for the Molalla Indians, everyone was all smiles.Everyone, that is, except head coach Jory Shene.After a 3-1 win over the Madras White Buffaloes (3-7, 3-11) to cap off an undefeated campaign in the Tri-Valley Conference, Shene gathered his team around for about five minutes after the game to warn them about complacency and their level of play.

The Molalla girls cross country team culminated their strong season, which at times has been hampered by injuries, with a solid performance Saturday afternoon at the OSAA 4A State Championship at Lane Community College in Eugene.

There are few certainties in life: death, taxes. Well, you can add the Molalla girls cross country team having success to that list.Though they did not win the league title this year, they are easily the most decorated program in the conference over the past decade, and finished just two points behind eventual state champion La Salle Prep at districts.

For many reasons, this was a forgettable season for the Molalla Indians football team. An already young team was stricken by the injury bug, meaning an already inexperienced team had to go to the reserves.

It was just over a year ago that Anthony Keller was hired to revive a program on the brink of extinction because of budget issues. However, it was the Molalla River School District that decided to recommend the program should continue.
