Friday, they were handed a loss in their league-opener at the hands of the Estacada Rangers (1-0, 4-1) in a low scoring affair, 6-0, but in doing so, suffered some injuries in the loss.

John McClenny and Billy Robles had a lot in common. They just never knew it until a few weeks ago.The pair started football together in elementary school, played at Molalla High School, graduated in the spring of 2012 and enrolled at Lewis and Clark College in Portland where they are now offensive linemen.

The few who stuck around Monday night were treated to a match with more plot twists and turns than a novel.Down two sets to none, the Molalla Indians (3-3, 7-5) fought back to beat the Gladstone Gladiators (1-5, 1-13) 17-25, 22-25, 28-26, 25-21, 16-14 in a match that featured large runs, long rallies, big hits and some clutch points—as the Indians fended off a couple match points.

Molalla was knocking on Gladstone’s door. Finally, in the 17th minute, the door opened.After dominating possession and unleashing a number of shots that just missed, the Indians (6-0, 8-2) finally caught the break they needed when senior Sergio Maldonado was taken down in the box by Gladstone defender Andrew Gross.

Trying to secure a spot in the playoffs, the Molalla Indians traveled to La Salle Prep Tuesday night. The pressure of the situation for Molalla showed, as the Falcons jumped out to an 8-1 lead early in the first set and never looked back, earning a 25-10, 25-16, 25-16 win Tuesday night.
